5-DAY OUTDOOR DISCOVERY COURSE 20 - 24 NOV 2006 (Part of day 3)

 Happy for completing the whole course 5D4N, excited in participating the activities especially the "Cross Island" expedition and the trekking expedition including those structure main for learning some values such as the flying fox, jetty jump, trust fall and many more...

"Cross Island" expedition is the unforgettable expedition, we were kayaking to another campsite lead by the sea expetition leader and we kept going on the wrong route. We couldn't meet the time that we were supppose to be there and at that time the water is in the low tide. My watch "Raffles"  and severe group were left behind, our kayak were stuck on the mud, we have no choice but to get off the kayak, girls will stay on the kayak, boys will get down and push the kayak to the exit. We kept pulling and pushing the kayak but it didn't move at all, then unfortunately my right shoe was the first to stuck into the deep stinky mud with shits on it, i kept struggling, pulling, it didn't work, my friends stand on the side holding on to the tree also tried to pull me out, but didn't work, we stayed at the same spot for about 30 mins, 1 instructor came to help me cause my legs and shoes were stuck, she kept pulling me up but no use, so she said, sorry you have to let go your shoe, well i just let go, we push and pull the kayak to the exit. After 5 mins later, it started to rain, we were wet, we push and pull until we see some people with injuries and instructors sitting overthere looking after them, the instructor do a headcount, after she do the headcount double check the number, we again set off to another exit, this time there were water, it will be a bit easier for us we were told to lie down on the tip and end of the kayak, we had to use our hands and legs to paddle and kick so that the kayak will move, we kept paddlind and kicking with our hands and legs, finally ahead of us, we saw people pushing and pulling kayak over the edge.The time went by and its at 7 pm, everyone is hungry, dirty and cold as it rains, sandflies and mosquitoes are out to bite us. We also need to carry the kayak to a place and leave it there, then the OBS staffs came to take us to the next campsite using sand viper (a transport boat), we had to walk through the trees and muds, me and some of my friends volunteered to help the staffs, i was assigned to stand on the sand viper, my other 2 friends were assigned to stand below the edge, we form a human chain and pass down the muddy item on the sand viper, we pass down the ponchos, water bottles, jerrycans, after that, those who felt ill or sick were told to sit on the express boat, they will sent to the 24hr medical centre to treat, after putting the items on the sand viper, we help our other friends by pulling them onto the sand viper, asked them to sit on the rear, both leg put in and sit down. After that we set off to our campsite. We were coveres with full of mud and when we knew that we cannot bath with soap or what, we were shocked. We could only go down to the sea water to rinse with water and thats all and only a limited time of 1 ~ 2 min. The people from St Theresas cooked all of our food and they kept asking what happen to us.They were very caring and we were all very touch.

6 November 06...

The day we have to setup the booth in Seng Kang Primary School, this event held every year in this school. This is to attract the students to come to their favourite Secondary School and know more about the school's facilities and more. Me arrived in school at around 8.30am at the study area waiting for Shamsuree, Evan and Feng Yuan where at around 8.45am Feng Yuan and Shamsuree arrive, so Mr Ng want to talk to us so we go to the com lab 2 outside and talk when at around 9.15am, Evan came...then we head to log room while Mr Ng go ask Mr Selva to drove us to the school, we took the shot revolver (a laser simulation pistol), 3 pacestick, 2 rifles, 1 helmet,1 SBO, Mr Ng kept telling us to double up, so we quickly take our equipment and go to Mr Selva's car Mr Ng signal Mr Selva, he escort us to Mr Selva's car then he went off because he has chinese remedial with the sec 3 E...then we left..appoint arrived in the primary school, when we reach the school, we are told to report to the security guard house there and ask the security officer for a sticker, he placed for us. then we head off to our booth, it was located at the first floor, if im not wrong the calss is call "1patience" im from this primary school of course i know la...when we enter the booth is already setup accept ours "NCC" THE GIRL GUIDES WILL THERE BUT THEY DIDNT BRING ANYTHING..."oh no" why did this happen ??? well we setup our NCC booth in the middle nearest to the entrance door. we put 2 - 3 table for the shot revolver laser gun shooting... me dress in long fold wearing on the helmet putting some of the grass on my whole body, when i step out of the class, many of the students will fancinated by me, they will either say hello or wave at me, when i wave at them they will also wave back at me...1st class entered, it's the primary 2, well it's their free period so their teacher let them browse around our school's booth...then our booth were always the best many people kept crowding around our NCC booth, why because of me, Feng Yuan, Evan and Shamsuree. Me entertained them so they follow me, well it's simple...
some of the class student's will come and take photo of the four of us, but the most photo taken was me, oh no... the most is the girls....they took their camera and take a shot...haha, all the P6's class visit all the secondary school's booth but i think our school's booth is the best, because the four of us go out, i say out loud "hello !!! next time P6 must join Seng Kang Secondary School" almost all the students replied "OK !!!" that was really cool....after when the first half o f the P6 went off, it was break for us so we four go out of the class when we do drills, Feng Yuan commanded me in chinese command...when i prune down, i accidentally brake the rifle's butt, so i quickly think of an idea which was to return to school, put back the spoilt one and bring back the good one, so i asked Ms Khalidal for permission then i went off with the broken rifle, it was really very tired, because i had to carry the weapon in longfold, i was very sweat and tired, then i reached in Secondary School, i enter NCC room and took new rifle plus the poster colour to colour my face into camouflage...after that i had to walk back to the primary school again, again very tired....it took about 15 minutes to walk from SKPS to SKSS and from SKSS to SKPS. After i reach the primary school, i walked into our booth, i asked Feng Yuan and Evan to help me paint my face it was really like im a bangra because both of them paint my face like an indian people's colour, the mix brown, green and black together. Then the first class comes in, Feng Yuan, Shamsuree and Evan entertained them, i put on my helmet and put grass on my helmet and my no.4 many P6 really come to our booth, we let them touch the dummy weapon, helmet and so on, at around the afternoon, Mr Ng arrived and hand us the rank display, the code of conduct and the core value, we place it nicely on the table  then Ms Khalidal give us suggestion on putting the display board against the cupboard, i stand on the table and say out loud " hello !!! welcome to our Seng Kang Secondary School's booth, if you are interested in NCC pls come over and crowd around us, those girls who are interested in girl guides pls ask the guides, those who are interested in Red Cross pls proceed to the red cross, you'll may carry on !!! Ms Khalidal pointing to me a good sign... after a few class, i saw my former P6 form teacher Miss Ong Shir Ling leading her class to our booth, she still can recognise me when im in camouflage face...she said" Howe Liang.. wa your face really very nice...". Yeah we continue to do the same things until the end of the whole event which ends at around 1pm...it was time for us to pack up and went back to school, i chiong to the toilet and wash my face,well i splash some water on my face, the poster colour start to mix together and become black, then i use the soap but the soap button spoil, then Ms Khalidal ask me "does the poster colour on your face can be clean ?? of course i say yes la...
then i rush to the other toilet and wash my face, there was enough liquid soap for me, so i press it and rub my face, eventually it started get off, part of my face is clear, then i continued until it left only on my eyes, it was very hard to clean because it looks like i kanna panda eyes like that, i kept rubbing but it didnt went off, then suay suay loh, i get out of the toilet and saw Mr Ng's car outside the class waitng for me with Feng Yuan inside, Evan and Shamsuree went back. When me and Feng Yuan arrive in school, we put back the stuff, the Evan and Shamsuree come back later than us, i ask them why they told me "because, you know the display stand the girl guides give to us and sit inside the car and go back to school, they just give us the stand go off... wa lao where can like that ???? not fair sia, abuse ah... enjoy air-con....after that we settle the on the IMT competition on choosing who to go !!! after that Mr Ng photocopy for us, and tell us to write down the instructions we need to tell them, after that he say we can go home, so i just walk to the log room and take my Army Engineer Camp administrative instruction, then i went back to the coffee bean, i dont see even one of them at the coffee bean area, i think they go home liao...so i just go to innospace lo...
