Marching in of the Silent Precision Drill Squad (SPDS) and Women Police Pipes and Drums ...

Recorded on my camera on the NS40 Exhibition at Tampines on the 28/4/07...

Silent Precision Drill Squad started from taiwan, they execute drills using rhythems and not commands, they do drills silently... They had to be trained for 6 months before they can perform this drills...

The distinctive Military Police Uniform was first introduced in 1983. In 1984, a 93-man unit drawn from the ranks of the SAFPU formed the Silent Precision Drill Squad (SPDS), trained with the help of foreign instructors for a performance at a Reach Out Singapore event that same year. The overwhelmingly positive public response led to the sub-unit becoming a permanent fixture, and since then, has become one of the most well-known and visible aspects of the SAFPU which the general public would relate to. The unit first appeared in the National Day Parade in 1986, and put up its first mass precision drill performance in 1988 at the National Stadium. It performed twice for the Malaysian King and the general public at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1989.

Besides being the premier band in Singapore, the band also has the distinction of being the only service band here to perform with bagpipes. The Woman Police Pipes and Drums were established in 1972. A 30 strong Pipe Band was formed and trained locally with the Gurkha Contingent Pipes and Drums and the Singapore Police Force Band.

Over the years, the status of the Women Police Pipes and Drums has been greatly enhanced. The band has performed overseas in places such as Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, France, Italy, Sweden and Germany

NS40 Exhibition at Tampines 28/4/07

Today went there all by myself, after having maths remedial from 8.30am til 10.30am, just went staright home, take a bath then take bus number 27 to there... Well, i went there and learn many things, history about the Army, Police and the SCDF... Then met Gin Wee and his friend over there... Over there played many games such as Sonar, where you have to destroy the enemy sub by using your ears to listen to the ultrasound it given, then you launch the torpedo...Next is the Flight simulation, where you need to fly the plane and destroy all enemies target...Next is the IMT, using the SAR 21 aim at the figure 12 and shoot, it's a laser sensor, and the Tazer X26, whoa, discharge 50,000 volt of electricity to numb the person... Then the Tunnelator... Very dam scary... I was given a night vision detector, then i got to look inside the NVD screen to look for obstacle blocking the way and find the way to the exit, the whole place is very dark and still got smoke (not harmful), but manage to get out quickly... This is to let us taste how the SCDF use the NVD to find those survivors inside the collapsed building...
Brought so many souvenirs home...Such as the SAF Buffle Bag a.k.a Ali baba bag and many things....

BBC stops showing video footage of Virginia Tech gunman (but youtube has it)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80Eh06rabuI

LONDON: The BBC has stopped showing video clips which show Virginia Tech gunman Cho Seung-Hui, who shot 32 people dead before killing himself, brandishing guns and railing against his victims, it said Friday.

In a blog entry on the corporation's website, Peter Horrocks, head of television news, said it would stop showing "moving images" from the video, which also showed Cho putting a gun to his head and a knife to his neck.

A spokeswoman for the BBC confirmed that the decision was implemented at
midnight (2300 GMT) Thursday.

The footage was taken off air after a day in which it featured prominently on its News 24 channel and terrestrial bulletins.

"From 24 hours after our original transmission, we will not use moving images or actuality from the video," Horrocks wrote.

"Stills from the video may be used but we will exercise restraint over excessive use of the more alarming images."

A spokesman for Sky News, the main competitor to BBC News 24 in rolling news, said it would continue to show the video but reserved the right to change this decision later.

"There's no change in our editorial line - we exercise editorial judgement as a story develops," he added.

For the BBC, Horrocks said the corporation had tried to "contextualise" clips with comments from experts about the killer's state of mind.

"We have not replayed large chunks of the video endlessly on News 24 or BBC
World," he wrote.

"We are well aware of the concern that the video may lead others to copy or emulate him... however, given that the video is already widely available, we had to judge whether withholding the video from BBC audiences was the appropriate thing to do.

"We decided that playing short clips, responsibly contextualised, could aid understanding of the story."

In practice, the story was dropping down the news agenda across Britain's media Friday as families held the first funerals of victims and Virginia's governor named a panel to probe Monday's massacre. - AFP/yy

7/4/07 Command and Conquer General - ZEROHOUR -

Today went to Hougang Plaza Raiders cybercafe there to play lan games with Faris & Zailan... We meet each other just round the 7-eleven store, i arrived first follow by Faris reading newspaper at the bus-stop, after that we wait til Zailan comes, then we proceed to the Lan-shop... We gave our EZ-Link card to the counter, take the number card and proceed to our com, then we started the game by playing Counter-Strike, we play with other online players, the players are tough and hardcore, you sometime gets a chance to kill or shoot them, so Faris is angry with it, he kicked out the other players except the 3 of us only... We play til song song... Then after that, very sian and tired of the game, we change and play with ourselves, i play Half-Life and DOTA, Faris play Diablo and Zailan start his C&C General Zerohour.... We play and play our own until very sian, then we exit the game and start our BIG CONFLICT by playing Command & Conquer General -ZEROHOUR-, (i had played that game for a period of time) Before we start we select our own General, i selected China Nuke General - General Tao(Specialist in nuclear weapon), Faris selected USA Laser General - General Townes (Specialist in laser weapon) and last but not least Zailan selected Camouflage General - Prince Kassad of GLA (Global Liberation Army)  then we start the game as Faris is the server, we firstly build up our power plant all this and carry on with our farming of money to produce weapon, vehicles and machines... We build up our defence to the fullest... Faris start his war by attacking Zailan first, he uses his laser infantry units (a bunch of it) and attack Zailan's defence, then i attack use nuclear vehicle like nuke cannon which is a transport that fire nuclear bomb onto enemies... We kept bombarding each other when suddenly Faris superweapon timing appeared (Warning !!! Enemys Particle Cannon detected) 3:00 Wa !!!! 3 mins before he uses his weapon, follow by Zailan (Warning !!! Enemys Scud Storm detected) then me (Warning !!! Enemys Nuclear Missile Silo detected) we attacked each other and wait til the timer stops at 0:00.. Faris particle cannon timing has ended so he used first on Zailans superweapon, follow by 3 TIME A-10 thunderbolt aircraft fly pass and destroy the whole Scud Storm launcher site... As for me, i kept building the Nuke cannons, deploy here and there, guarding my territories... Faris army move towards me but the whole bunch of army just become a bunch of scraps... But in the end... Faris kept attacking Zailan while i attack Faris, Zailan is losing so Zailan click on the surrender button then his whole army self destruct , now only left me and Faris, he move his laser army in but it become scraps then suddenly he uses his special ability, MOTHER OF ALL BOMB (MOAB) and bomb my base, one big hole of burned ash appeared follow by his 3 A-10 thunderbolt passing through my base targeting my Nuclear Silo... but heng heng i launched it beofre it was destroyed if not my base will be a goner... It hits Faris base, a wide circle full of orange colour toxins were spread... His army all died and his vehicles were damaged... Then in the end i use my hero Black Lotus (She can capture enemies structure in a fast time, disable vehicles and steal cash), i use it to capture many Faris building and after i captured it i sell it follow by calling a nuke bomber and bombs his base, and artillery barrage targeting his command centre, after that he found out that he had no money and resources to build his army, so he surrendered... China Nuke General Rules... Woo !!! That was a great game... After that, we exit the game and pay our fees to the counter... $7.10, we get back our EZ-Link card and go home...

The F1 race has just ended... I watch it on the PPMate NetTv and select the channel Starsport, it was so exciting as there were ace driver there like Alonso who oftens emerge champion in the races... But the most exciting part i felt was when it was around the last few second before the end of the race when Alonso was in front of Massa, Massa press his gear to full speed during the sharp turn and dash through Alonso, then Massa got the fastest timing... 1st goes to Massa from Ferrari with his fastest timing of 1.35.043 ... Second goes to Alonso of Renault... Let's wait for tomorrows round 2 of F1 Formula Race in Malaysia... Well... Miss Michael Schumacher very much as he represents Ferrari the World's best racing driver, but now i think he retired from his driver seat...

Today is the Sec 4 students who are taking the O' lvl are moving their belonging to the lvl 3 air-con classroom...Sian !!! We the 4N7 couldn't move to the air-con classroom because we are not taking O' LVL this year, we are taking N' LVL !!! Some teachers were unhappy because some classes were having SSP while the students are shifting their tables and chairs, this creates noises and distraction to those classes having SSP. Some teachers were stunned because 4E1 shift their whole cupboard to the 3rd floor because the 3E1 doesn't have a cupboard downstair, now the form teacher a bit angry. 4E2 more worst, rubbish were everywhere when they enter the 3N7 classroom... Mdm Zuerina will unhappy because she saw her class was in total devastated, so after our english SSP at 4N7, she go back to 3N7 with Mrs Suresh to clear up the mess so me & Whelan join in to help, we bring their textbook to the 4th level...4E3 more worst, when the 3E3 students come up to put their files and books inside the cupboard, the 4E3's open the cupboard's door recklessly and thorw the sec 3's books aside...After clearing the mess, we went off...Then i saw Mr Leong walking around the 3rd lvl classroom block peeping through the window of some classrooms...After that Andy gave me a lollipop, i asked him " Why u give me ? " Andy replied : " Mdm Zuerina asked me to gave you "Now i think many teachers were unhappy.... Thanks Mdm Zuerina !

(VERY IMPORTANT) New man leads the SAF

27 Mar 2007

He was appointed Singapore's Chief of Defence Force (CDF) just as the war in Iraq and SARS broke out. Since then, Lieutenant-General (LG) Ng Yat Chung has led the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) through various security challenges, numerous peacetime humanitarian missions and overall heightened operational tempo.

Principal among these operations was Operation Flying Eagle, the relief operation for the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004. LG Ng effectively commanded the largest and most complex mission the SAF had undertaken to date - with more than 1,500 servicemen and women deployed abroad to provide emergency relief, supported by many more personnel back in Singapore.

On top of that, LG Ng had been instrumental in the transformation of the SAF into a networked, knowledge-based force. He laid the blueprint for closer integration between the Services, overseeing the development of new operational concepts and introducing cutting-edge technologies to build up the SAF's new force structure.

After four eventful and fruitful years as CDF, LG Ng handed over the SAF symbol of command to Major-General (MG) Desmond Kuek Bak Chye on 23 Mar, at a change of command parade held at the SAFTI Military Institute.

Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean witnessed the changeover, together with other senior MINDEF officials, SAF officers and members of the military diplomatic corps. The parade was made up of contingents drawn from all formations of the SAF.

In his tribute address, MG Kuek said: "Under LG Ng, the SAF has become a more integrated force, and is well positioned on its first spiral of networked capabilities."

"LG Ng will also be remembered for his unwavering efforts to champion organisational learning in the SAF. He has been instrumental in fostering a more open and conducive learning culture, with strong emphasis on growing the knowledge repositories that are vital for success in our complex operating environment," he added.

With the change in leadership, one thing remains constant: the SAF's journey towards a Third-Generation full-spectrum force - one that is integrated, networked, cohesive and focused in its mission to deter threats to Singapore's security and sovereignty.

To do so, MG Kuek said the SAF will continue to maintain a high level of operational readiness, a high standard of training excellence and look to operationalise new capabilities in integrated knowledge command and control systems, precision strike and unmanned warfare.

"We will engage our people intellectually, emotionally and professionally to strengthen their commitment to the defence of Singapore and to excellence in all that we do in the SAF," he added.

MG Kuek joined the SAF in 1981. He has held various senior appointments in the SAF, including the posts of Director, Joint Intelligence Directorate; Commander, 3rd Singapore Division; and Assistant Chief of the General Staff (Operations).

He was appointed Chief of Army in Apr 2003, and handed over this appointment to Brigadier-General (BG) Neo Kian Hong on 20 Mar this year.

MG Kuek has played a vital role in steering the Army towards organisational excellence, enhancing its capabilities and operational efficiency.

LG Ng will be retiring from the SAF after 28 years of service. He will return to the Administrative Service, after attending the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard University.
