Apple's 'Mecca Project' Insults Islam? Not at all... It wasn't meant to...

Now it's "cube-shaped" buildings? Surely, they're joking.

Is there anything that doesn't "insult Islam" in the minds of Muslims these days? Appartently not, and this time its just a cube-shaped building:

On October 10, 2006, an Islamic website posted a message alerting Muslims to what it claims is a new insult to Islam. According to the message, the cube-shaped building which is being constructed in New York City, on Fifth Avenue between 58th and 59th Streets in midtown Manhattan, is clearly meant to provoke Muslims. The fact that the building resembles the Ka'ba (see picture below), is called "Apple Mecca," is intended to be open 24 hours a day like the Ka'ba, and moreover, contains bars selling alcoholic beverages, constitutes a blatant insult to Islam. The message urges Muslims to spread this alert, in hope that "Muslims will be able to stop the project."

From The Register we learn that it's a bit late to stop the project since the store opened for business back in May (gee, too bad). However, the building is not called the "Apple Mecca", it "does not serve alcoholic beverages, and neither Jack Straw nor Salman Rushdie work behind the counter." So the outraged members of what many believe to be the religion of perpetual outrage should be able to breathe more easily, until they find some other ridiculous offense to become outraged over - again.

Jawa Report writes: "They claim they don't worship Idols. But replicate their cube and they get all hissy about it."

Update (Sept 2, 09): There have been many comments on this post since it was first put up 3 years ago, many from Muslims angry over what they claim is an insult to their religion - even though it has been made clear from the time this post was first put up that it was a Muslim website that called it the Apple Mecca project, not Apple, and that the above construction image is not actually called "Apple's Mecca Projecct," by Apple. It "does not serve alcoholic beverages, and neither Jack Straw nor Salman Rushdie work behind the counter." Apparently, this isn't clear enough for Muslims to understand so here is the actual image of the completed structure (which is actually the entrance way to the store below. This image can easily found on the Internet had anyone taken the time to look it up before getting their panties all in a bunch).

Let's recall once again that this post was, after all, initially about the "MUSLIM WEBSITE" calling it "Apple's Mecca Project" and an "insult to Islam." Get it?:

We can only hope this helps Muslims to take a breath and relax now.

Ltd, a non-profit organization, was established to make the *SCAPE dream a reality for young people.

Woo hoo, exam finish lo.... HOLIDAY!! ~~~ Must catch Green Zone!!

Had my final year exam today... It's quite easy but there's 1 particular qns which came out where we didn't study about it! And everyone after the exam were talking about it!! This few weeks I had not been attending school because there's no lesson, so stay at home and nua lo~~~~ 

Last Friday, Saturday & Sunday I was having SKSS NCC Camp. It was the last camp for th sec4 who are taking N' lvl or O' lvl. And guess what the CLT's are doing, we work hard in the morning-afternoon & evening. Midnight onwards, our fun time begins... We open our lan shop at AVA theatre lo. Some play DOTA and Counter Strike. As u know I know a lot about IT stuff and so I make use of the projector & screen as the main screen, plus the sound plug to the speaker system which makes it more COOL!! We also watch movie la.

We even got photos taken la. Haven't upload yet cause it's in Sham cam. We have mac as our supper as always for the consecutive 3 years. Then sit at the ring of the parade square and talk cock while lying down on the parade square!!  Friday night went into the staff lounge with teacher's permission because I want to watch the show at chnl 8 11pm 'Taiwan龙卷风'. Finish watching then went out and join the CLT's having fun at the parade square. We use the fire gel and scribe on the parade square and create words!! We wrote NCC on the ground and light it up!! IT'S DAM NICE SERIOUSLY!! THE NCC WORD IS BURNING LO!! Well I enjoy the camp la.

OH, and I'm planning to buy this costume...

But tmr I'm going down to MM workshop to repair that poor Star Scream. Badly damaged back in SAS 2010. Tail kenna bend by the lady, shoe got hole, wing span going to drop off. Haiz... Gotta service it even though I appear on newspaper though. That's why Decepticon don't like Human being!! Make spoil the parts.
